Provincetown Blues

These images of Provincetown are digitally captured, transferred to film and then printed using one of the oldest photographic processes: cyanotype (also called sun prints). Each one is unique and made on heavy, handmade artisan paper. They can appear three dimensional as a result of the heavy paper I use and the time they spend soaking in water to remove the exposing medium. I’m especially drawn to taking pictures at night when the shadows are deep and mysterious; the way moonlight and streetlights play on wet streets, across billboards and over weathered shingles creates a moody reverie that captures the essence of a magical place.
