A little bit of Paris in Taipei

I thought I was dreaming when I saw this (very far-flung) branch of Paul, a decidedly upscale chain of high quality patisseries in Paris. The staff spoke neither French nor English. It made me laugh to think about all the times I was wandering around Taipei starving and happy to eat almost anything, but couldn't order because I couldn't read the menu. Thus those many visits to Starbucks where a grande is a grande in any language. The other day. however, after having walked many miles and many hours, I was desperate for food and tired to death of Starbucks. I walked into a tiny noodle place, picked up the menu at the back counter then turned around and addressing the entire restaurant said, "Does anyone here speak English?" Someone did and I got my noodles. And they were delicious.
